Featuring Richard Hirschl, cello RACHMANINOFF - Vocalise for Cello and Orchestra TCHAIKOVSKY - Lensky’s Aria from Eugene Onegin for Cello and Orchestra TCHAIKOVSKY – Variations on a Rococo Theme for Cello and Orchestra RIMSKY-KORSAKOV – Scheherazade Superstar CSO cellist Richard Herschl performs three pieces that showcase the instrument’s beauty. The cello takes the place of the human voice in the Vocalise and Lensky’s Aria, while the Rococo Variations are a tribute to Tchaikovsky’s hero, Mozart. Scheherazade, based on The Arabian Nights, uses dazzling, colorful orchestration with a mix of Eastern flare to tell the musical stories of an exotic princess who spins her tales each night to stay alive.
