SAINT-SAËNS Cello Concerto No. 1 MAHLER Symphony No. 5 Mahler’s colossal Fifth Symphony embraces an entire world of emotion and sound, from the opening trumpet solo of the heart-rending funeral march to the tender and loving Adagietto, the most famous of Mahler’s works. Performed by a large orchestra, Mahler’s Fifth has been called a transformative experience. Chicago Symphony cellist Loren Brown joins the orchestra for Saint-Saëns’ virtuosic Cello Concerto.
